THE PAINTING PROCESS
Melisa's approach to oil painting is rooted in patience, precision, and a deep respect for the medium. This conversation is crucial—it shapes every decision that follows, from color palette to composition to the subtle interplay of light and shadow.
Once the direction is clear, Melisa moves to the canvas. She works from carefully prepared studies and reference materials, beginning with an underpainting that maps the fundamental structure and values of the composition. This foundation is essential: in photorealistic work, accuracy in drawing and tonal relationships is non-negotiable.
